Iroko

Iroko is classified as a grade 1 wood. It’s sometimes also referred to as African Teak and comparable to teak in respect of its strength, durability and resistance to decay.

Iroko varies from light yellow to golden brown in colour, and features a course texture and interlocked grain. The wood doesn’t require regular treatment with oil or varnish when used outdoors.

The wood can be handled well with hand and machine tools. Iroko also nails and screws well, glues satisfactorily and when the grain is filled, an excellent finish can be obtained.

Iroko is suitable for both internal and external joinery, flooring and furniture.
