American Walnut

Walnut is a tough, hard timber of medium density. It is mostly straight-grained, but with wavy or curly grain occasionally present. The texture is rather course.

Walnut timber (also known as black hickory nut or Canadian walnut) has a very dark brown to purple-black colour, with a grey sapwood.

Walnut holds nails or screws well, it glues satisfactorily and polishes to a high finish. It is extensively used for flooring, interior joinery or for high quality furniture items.
